So, I wasn’t entirely honest about “unfollowing” Eater NY… I just put them in an RSS folder called “ugh” so that I don’t have to look at them more than once a week if I’m doing anything better (sleeping, boozing, playing with cat, biking, reading books, walking around the block, trying out new sandwiches, etc.)

I’m leaving all my comments on other sites, of which there are plenty. Kind & thoughtful comments are nourishing to young hyperlocal blogs. Try it sometime.

Tumblr, unlike Twitter, doesn’t publicly display followers, and we fully support that policy, as it helps everyone focus on creating, reading, and sharing awesome content, instead of encouraging users to boast about analytics and follow the front-runners.

But that all said, we’re humbled to announce that within the last 36 hours, we crossed 10,000 followers for both The Bad Deal & The Price Hike, making us 20,000 strong (Of course, many of you follow BOTH of our blogs, so take that number with a grain of sea salt).

`Burger Bloodbath' Tickets Will Cost $150:

Ben Leventhal, who hosts a pretty rad `Burger Bloodbath’ every year in the Hamptons, has hiked the price of the competitive meatfest to $150pp, up 20% from 2011’s price of $125. There are a limited number of friends and family tickets currently being sold for $100.

Related: Leventhal is calling it the (Montauk) Superburger this year. Public tickets will go on sale next week exclusively through Eater. Last year, Leventhal partnered with Gilt City to host the event.

The $200 Eater Exclusive at Danny Meyer's North End Grill Might Be a GOOD DEAL:

Eater Exclusives is hosting its second, well, “exclusive” dinner at Danny Meyer’s North End Grill. The $200 per person ticket price includes wine pairings, tax, tip, and a fine four-course meal cooked by chef Floyd Cardoz. We’re big fans of all-inclusive “real cost” pricing here at The Bad Deal, so Meyer and crew is already off to good start.

Recall that the first Eater Exclusive dinner at Perla, which was advertised as being four-courses, ended up being around seventeen dishes or so. We’re inclined to say the North End Grill family-meal MIGHT very well be a GOOD DEAL. Check out my solid 2.5 star Bloomberg News review of the ambitious Battery Park ~~Goldman Sachs cafeteria~~ restaurant. Also take note that as of publication, one of the two North End Grill dinner services is already sold out.
